BAJRA THE EMPTY HAND GORKHA FIGHTING STYLE
“I am proud to be a GORKHA, and am honored to represent the beauty of art and culture of Nepal to the world”. - GURU SHUNY BEE
After studying in depth the history and culture of Nepal, I came to know the ancient GORKHA warriors of native Nepal who demonstrated so many times bravery in hand to hand combat in battlefields and on the street as well. The tactics they used to get in and techniques they used to stay there and fight were done with lighting speeds in different confrontational styles. The art they used in survival situations was more instinctive and effective not only with enemies but also with wild animals. Like a tiger is born with instinct and they hunt their prey with an immediate responsiveness to feed their hunger, Gorkha warriors were instinctive with the methods they used as they were trained from birth. Having gained all this knowledge, I started to think seriously to develop this system of fighting art, and have coined the term, BAJRA like other martial arts have done. Literally, Bajra means thunder bolt or lighting strike in Sanskrit. I have developed and continue to develop this system on the basis of speed like its name suggests, designed to overcome any situation.
I have been working towards having BAJRA recognized as a full-fledged martial arts style. I always believe that nothing is impossible for the human mind. According to Einstein, the universe is a fertile field, always creates new stars and solar systems. As a human we are born with a great weapon of mind which can create new ideas, concepts, arts and philosophies like the universe itself. And with the growth of Mixed Martial Arts I have seen that BAJRA fits in well with that style of combat and can be used to enhance the fighters effectively.

BAJRA training helps you to fight in any situation. Fighting position keeps changing constantly in hand to hand combat. As a martial artist, one should be prepared to fight in any position whether standing or on the ground. To overcome one’s limitations, a person must train their body, mind and spirit to succeed in the Mixed Martial Arts and become a full-fledged martial artist. A one dimensional fighter will find themselves at a disadvantage and must learn the other elements to be consistent in the ring or other situations. Fights could end up in standing position with punch, kicks or any strikes. And sometimes fights would end up on ground with submission, chokes or locks. The martial artist must learn to recognize the weak areas he has and practice until they become strengths and can act from any position weather standing or on the ground, instinctive rather than learned.

With constant training the body is conditioned to react with speed and power. The mind must also be trained to analyze the situation so the body can react naturally. The spiritual side is hard to define; it is a passion that must be there to succeed in the conflict. For a martial artist to succeed he must develop all three elements. For example to make gunpowder you need potassium nitrate, charcoal, and sulfur. In the right combination they can make the perfect explosion. This is what the Martial artist strives to achieve through practice, trial, tournaments, contests and especially in real world action. And BAJRA is uniquely designed to provide these elements.
I am the first GORKHA to showcase the beauty, culture and traditions of Nepal to the BLACK BELT, world’ leading magazine of Martial Arts. With this as a stepping stone someday Nepal will gain greater recognition and honor in the world as I share my culture and art one student at a time and they take the art of BAJRA to many places.
