On December 3rd Bee Martial Arts Academy celebrated their 14th year of service to the Portland community. It was a great evening for students to spend time together with their friends and family in a fun and exciting environment. The juniors got to display their martial arts talents by performing demonstrations in front of their family members.
The evening also included the distribution of trophies which the students had achieved during the Anniversary Championship held at the Academy. It was great to see the students come up and receive their trophies with a sense of achievement on each of their faces. Trophies were also handed out to Students of the Month – these were for deserving g students who had shown an all-around improvement during the month as well as their belt testing. There were trophies also handed out to deserving parents who had been instrumental in helping Bee Martial Arts throughout the year, by giving their time and talent to the academy.
One of the main highlights of the evening was the distribution of the 1st and 2nd Degree Black Belts to the deserving students who had worked hard throughout the black belt course to achieve their belts. As Guru Bee said, “many join this journey together but only a few remain standing as this journey demands total dedication, determination and discipline”. Among the black belts, Mr. Casey also received his 1st Dan Black Belt Certificate from the Kukkiwon. Guru Bee was honored and happy to put on their well-deserved black belts around their waists. Our brand new 1st and 2nd Dan Black Belts are as follows –
1.Neelam Bee – 2nd Dan 2. Claude Bee – 1st Dan 3. Stefan Melin – 1st Dan
4.Sharon Melin – 1st Dan5. Nate Melin – 1st Dan6. Deborah Brueggeman – 1st Dan

As the evening continued parents and students enjoyed a large variety of good food and dessert. The entire event was a great success and we hope that our Academy will be able to celebrate many more anniversaries in the future.
