Action Martial Arts Magazine owner Alan Goldberg recently invited Guru Shuny Bee to attend the 12th anniversary Action Film Festival held on January 20-21st at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City New Jersey. Rick Mayers and Alan Goldberg along with their executive committee reviewed Guru Bee’s movie Gorkha Protector and it was nominated for Outstanding Martial Arts Film of the Year. The movie was scheduled for a screening at the festival on Friday at 11 am and again on Saturday at 10:30. The screening of the movie was packed and afterwards many people commented to the committee that it reminded them of Bruce Lee in its style and action updated to the 21st century. Guru Bee invited his first Oregon student Robert Madrigal who was also in Gorkha Protector to go with him.

While Guru Bee was at the festival he was able to interact and share his knowledge of Bajra with many celebrities such as; Michael J. White (Starred in Undisputed 2 and Never back down 2), Cynthia Roth rock (Above the Law, Undefeatable), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat and Pearl Harbor) and Marty Kove (Karate Kid 1 & 2, Rambo First Blood 2) to name just a few. At the Festival Guru Bee put on the first official Bajra technique class and also introduced the Khukhri Knife in a formal seminar at the request of the festival because of his depth of knowledge on Gorkha fighting styles on Friday.

He attended the Wine and Cheese Party that night where he was able to meet again with several of the celebrities and enjoy time both sharing and dancing with many of them. The next morning, Guru Bee met with Stephen Hayes, the Dalai Lama’s personal bodyguard and they shared with each other about their respective arts. Later that afternoon Guru Bee met with Michael J. White and Bill “Superfoot” Wallace in the exhibition room to share techniques.Mr. Wallace shared how much he enjoyed Guru Bee’s movie and also the chance to share knowledge with him.

That evening Guru Bee went down the Red Carpet and at the Hall of Honor in front of 2000 celebrities and martial artists received the award for Outstanding Contribution to Martial Arts Action Movie of the Year for 2012. The next morning Guru Bee was invited to Manhattan New York to be interviewed by White Himal Television regarding the festival, the movie and the Art of Bajra. He is honored to be able bring the knowledge and experience he has had back to Bee Martial Arts Academy in Portland Oregon and be able to share the experiences with his students.
